Seasonal Snow Removal Contracts in Winnipeg

One agreement for the whole winter. We clear your driveway and walks after each snowfall, with no phone call needed.

Winnipeg Residential Snow Removal sells a seasonal contract as a simple promise to the property: when it snows enough to need clearing, someone arrives and clears it. What “covered all winter” means in practice comes down to five steps, and it helps to see them in order.

What happens from the first call to the last snowfall?

A seasonal plan runs in the same sequence for every home. Knowing it lets you judge any snow contract you are offered, ours included.

  1. Property walk. Before the first snowfall we look at the driveway, walks, steps, gates and the end of the drive.
  2. Scope agreed. We list exactly what gets cleared on every visit and put it in the agreement.
  3. Trigger set. The agreement states how much snow counts as a qualifying snowfall.
  4. Route. Your property is added to our route for the winter, and we clear it after each qualifying snowfall.
  5. Season ends. The contract runs to the date written in it and we agree the next steps together.

Nothing on that list needs a call from you in the middle of a storm. That is the point of buying a season instead of a single visit.

Why does the trigger matter so much?

The trigger is the part of a snow contract people argue about, so we settle it before the first flake. If the plan clears at a set depth, then you know whether to expect us after a few centimetres overnight or only after a proper snowfall.

Wind complicates it. Open lots drift, and a driveway can fill from a small fall if the wind is right. If your lot is exposed, say so during the walk, and we will talk through how to handle drifting in the agreement.

What is included on every visit?

Whatever is listed in your agreement, no more and no less. For most homes that means the driveway and the main walk, and often the front steps and a route to the garbage bins. Many plans also include the windrow, the heavy ridge a plow leaves across the end of the driveway.

That windrow is a good example of why scope matters. Under the City’s snow clearing policy, ridges pushed across private approaches by sidewalk plows are the owner’s to remove. If you want them gone on every visit, our windrow clearing goes into the plan. Sanding can be added as well. See our page on sanding and ice control.

Does a seasonal plan suit every neighbourhood?

It suits any home where you would rather not decide each morning whether the snow is bad enough to call. In Fort Garry, the older streets went up in a building boom through the 1950s and 1960s, while Waverley West mixes new single-family homes with townhome and condo clusters. Those are different jobs, and the scope we write down reflects which one you live in.

North of the city the question changes. East St. Paul’s own policy does not remove windrows across private driveways unless they are higher than 450 mm, which is why the ridge is worth writing into an East St. Paul seasonal plan. Then it is cleared on every visit.

Seasonal contract or per visit?

Choose the season if you want the work off your list. Choose per-visit snow removal if you only need help after some storms and would rather decide each time. You can also start per visit, see how the winter goes and switch to a season the next year.

If a parent or relative is on the plan, we can send the quote and updates to you. Our snow removal for seniors page covers how that works.

Set the season up before the first snowfall

Ask for a quote early in the fall, while the ground is still bare and there is time to walk the property together. Tell us the address, what you want cleared and who should hear from us.

Seasonal Snow Removal Contracts Questions

How do seasonal snow removal contracts work?

You agree the scope and terms once, and we clear the property after each qualifying snowfall for the whole winter. We walk the property first, list what gets cleared, and put it in the agreement. After that you do not need to call.

What should be in a snow removal contract?

The address and what is cleared, such as driveway, walks, steps and the windrow. It should also say what counts as a qualifying snowfall, the dates the contract covers, how payment works and how either side can end it. We write all of that in plain terms so nothing is a surprise in January.

What counts as a qualifying snowfall?

A snowfall deep enough to need clearing, agreed in the contract before the season starts. Setting the trigger in writing means you both know in advance when we will arrive, and a light dusting does not become an argument.

Can I cancel or change a seasonal contract part-way through winter?

The terms for changing or ending the plan are written into the agreement at the start, so you will see them before you sign. If your needs change, such as a new add-on or a trip south for February, tell us and we will work out the adjustment.

How much does a seasonal snow removal contract cost in Winnipeg?

It depends on the size of the property, what is included and how many visits the winter brings. Our [cost guide](/blog/snow-removal-cost-winnipeg/) explains the factors, and a quote after a property walk gives you an actual number.
